Victim Information
As a victim, you may find one of the links below useful.
Incarceration
KASPER tracks incarceration in the Kansas prison system.
Kansas Vine tracks incarceration in county jails.
Victim Impact Statement
Below you will find the link to the Victim Impact Statement. This statement is completely optional, but it allows for the attorney and judge involved to better understand your position.
Protective Orders
Protection from Abuse and Protection from
Stalking orders are available under Kansas law. The link below is to the
forms required. The district court clerk also has forms available.
Please read the General Instructions Form
under each section to see if your situation qualifies for orders. If you
apply, the judge may issue temporary orders affording protection
immediately. A hearing is required at a later date to get a final
order.
You may also get certain restraining
orders as part of a domestic civil case such as divorce. Below you
can also find a link to forms for filing a divorce. These cases can be
complex, so you may wish to seek counsel of an attorney.
Economic Loss Restitution Form
When a judge orders the defendant to pay for financial losses the victim suffered, this is called restitution. The Restitution Form helps the judge determine how much, if any, restitution to order. If the judge orders the defendant to pay restitution, there is no guarantee that the defendant will pay this amount. Nothing in the criminal process precludes you from seeking and enforcing a civil judgement.
In addition to completing the Restitution Form, you may also submit an application to the Crime Victims Compensation Board.
